South Africa beat India by 31 runs. South Africa lead 1-0 in the series


South Africa beat India by 31 runs in the first match of the India-South Africa match at the South African Parl. In reply to the 297-run target set by South Africa, India lost 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs and scored 265 runs. For India, Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with 79, Virat Kohli 51 and Shardul Thakur 50. But the team's middle and lower middle batsmen failed. However, with 9 wickets in hand, Thakur and Bumrah fought for some time.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first.  The team lost three wickets from the start and were in crisis, with captains Temba Bavuma and Rasi van der Dussen battling to save the team from danger and put up a big score. Both batsmen scored centuries and South Africa scored 296 runs in the allotted 50 overs.  Bavuma was bowled out for 110 by Bumrah. Dussen remained unbeaten on 129 runs. For India, Yasprit Bumrah took two wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin one.
