Voting for the second round of the panchayat elections has begun. Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Voting has begun in 186 Zilla Parishad zones in 68 blocks of 30 districts of the state. A 240-platoon police force has been deployed to maintain order during the polls. The people will decide the fate of the candidates by voting in 20,435 booths in 1514 panchayats. Of these, 3,656 sensitive booths have been identified.
In the second round, more than 6,210,000 voters will cast their ballots. Voters will cast their ballots on four different colored ballot papers for the sarpanch, ward members, committee members and district council members. At this stage the fortunes of the great leaders will be tested. Among them are BJP's Byomkesh Roy, Devi Mishra Ushadevi, Sameer Das and Padmanabha Behera. Leaders like Congress leader Ramesh Jena and BJP's Manmohan Samal will also be tested.
