India beat West Indies by 6 wickets in the first T20I match played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. India were targeted for 156 in 18.5 overs with 162 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. For India, Rohit Sharma (40), Ishan Kisan (35), Suryakumar Yadav (34) and Venkatesh Ayyar (24) were the other contributors. With the win, India took 1-0 lead in the three-match T20 series.
In today's match, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. The West Indies, who batted first, scored 157 runs in 20 overs. Although the team lost Brandon King's wicket from the start, Kyle Meyers and Nicholas Puran batted hard to lay a good foundation for the team. Meyers scored 31 and Puran 61. However, the team's midfield failed after the two batsmen were dismissed. Roston Chase (4), Rowman Powell (2) and Akil Hossain (10) were all out.
