Rishabh Pant holds a new record in Test cricket. He became the fastest Indian batsman to score a half-century off 28 balls in the India-Sri Lanka Day Night Test on Sunday. However, Rishabh Pant broke Kapil Dev's 40-year-old record with this smoky innings.
Prior to Rishabh Pant, Kapil Dev was the fastest Indian batsman to score a century in Tests. He scored a half-century off just 30 balls in a 1982 Test against Pakistan. But now Pant has broken Kapil's record by completing his half-century off 28 balls.
Similarly, Sardul Thakur is in third place and Birendra Sehwag in fourth place. Shahid Afridi has the record for the fastest half-century in Test cricket. He scored his half-century off just 26 balls in the match against India, followed by Ian Bootham, who also scored a half-century off just 28 balls against India.
